The sports week kicked off with a fun-filled day of games and activities set up by the sports staff for our Foundation and Kindergarten students. The activities challenged the student's agility, speed, balance and hand-eye coordination abilities. Our year 1 & 2 sports days followed over the next two school days where for the first time since Covid-19 hit, they were able to represent their houses by participating in houses and wearing their house colours. Students took part in 6 different activities on a rotational basis where they could score points for their houses. Activities included an obstacle course, water fill, egg & spoon, target shoot, bean bag toss & standing jump. For the remainder of the week, we hosted the Year 3 - 6 levels which followed a different format to that of our younger year levels. • U11 Basketball Squad Shines at FUNdamentality Tournament

Written by Timothy Byrne On Saturday 27th May the newly formed U11 Basketball squad headed out to Ascot International school to take part in the FUNdamentality Basketball Tournament. This was a fantastic opportunity for the Basketball squad to compete against other schools and gain experience at a competitive level as a team. The team played three games throughout the round robin match ups and got better as each game went on. In game one there were a few nerves and the team was just beginning to put their game play into action. In game two the team came out firing and put on a fantastic display of defense, working as a team and putting a lot more shots up.Their final game saw them go up against a very physical team and one that was making some tough shots look very easy. Many other teams may have been a bit intimidated by this but not the AISB team. They came out and put on a great show of teamwork, and ended to end game play. They even had the whole crowd backing them throughout. It was a fantastic atmosphere to witness and the team played exceptionally well and represented themselves and the school on a very high level. We would like to acknowledge and say thank you to all the parents that came out to support the team and a massive thank you to Coach Rob and Coach Boogie for their exceptional coaching and care for every member of the team. The basketball team is very lucky to have such dedicated and caring coaches.

  • AISB Hosts Friendly Basketball Tournament with Ascot International, Anglo Singapore, and Norwich

Written by Timothy Byrne On Saturday 10th June AISB hosted a friendly basketball tournament with Ascot International, Anglo Singapore and Norwich attending. The weather looked like it was going to play a big part but after trying to rain for most of the warm up we were able to get underway with AISB facing off against Norwich in the first game. AISB played well and showed that they are beginning to develop as a team as they demonstrated cohesive teamwork and went after loose ball. It was a very close game with AISB taking the win. The second game between Ascot and Anglo Singapore was when the rains decided to make an appearance. Although the rain was short it still required a small pause in order to get the court dried and ready to play again. After a short break play resumed with all the other games scheduled being played. In the final game of the morning AISB took on Anglo Singapore and the game was incredibly close throughout the whole match. They played incredibly well and showcased how far they have come as a team in a short period of time. A big thank you to the parents that came out and supported the team and to coaches Rob and Boggie who once again demonstrated how a good coach can care for their players as well as encourage them to give their all.
